It is probable that shortly after the founding of the monastery education of young boys took place, which they “paid for” by singing during masses. Under Abbot Joscio Hamberger the school was reorganized. A time table from this time with the singing activities of the monastery school students in the Basilica has been preserved.

After the refounding of the monastery the school for Latin was naturally reestablished, in which school students were trained in singing (liturgical chant) according to ancient tradition. After the disruption of World War II and restructuring, the boys’ choir of Pueri Cantores Altahensis was reestablished in 2001.
